Kortland Ware Named Director of LU Golf

Kortland Ware Named Director of LU Golf
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on November 03, 2022

Kortland Ware, a 2010 graduate of Lincoln University, has returned to his alma mater to serve as the Director of Golf. Dr. Kevin Wilson, Vice President for Advancement, Athletics and Campus Recreation, announced the hire on Tuesday morning (Nov. 1).

"We are ecstatic to welcome Kortland, his wife Jamie, and their son, Kortland, Jr. back to the hill!" Wilson said. "It's always a celebration when we can bring an accomplished Blue Tiger home. I expect our men's and women's golf programs to thrive under Coach Ware's leadership both on and off the green!"

Ware has played professionally since 2010, most recently as a member of the Midwest Golf Tour, where he recorded a best finish of second place. Ware also played on the Advocates Pro Golf Association Tour from 2019-2021 and on the Hooters Tour from 2010-2014. In his career, he has won five mini professional tour events with a personal low score of 10-under.

"I am humbled and honored for this opportunity to serve as the Director of Golf," Ware said.

"I'd like to thank the Lincoln University family for accepting me with open arms and believing in my vision for the future success of our men's and women's golf programs. The fire, passion and love for this beautiful game is what drives me. I cannot wait to come back home and get to work!

"As Laura Marney says, 'No matter who you are or where you are, instinct tells you to go home.'"

Ware began his playing career at Jackson State University, where he won the individual title at the Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship in 2006 with a three-round total of 213. Ware, who shot scores of 72, 70 and 71 en route to the victory, ended up winning the individual championship by 10 strokes.

He then transferred to Lincoln to finish his playing career, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in December of 2010. In addition to playing professionally, since 2016, Ware has also taught the fundamentals of golf in St. Louis to players with ability levels ranging from beginner to professional.
