Beyonce and Jay-Z foundations, partnered with Tiffany & Co., award the scholarships to Central State University students

Following the launch of the ABOUT LOVE Scholarship Program created by Tiffany & Co. in partnership with BeyGOOD and the Shawn Carter Foundation in 2021, Central State University was identified as one of five Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) awarded $2M in scholarship funding for students in the arts and creative fields through 2024. The 2022-2023 About Love Scholarship has been awarded to 60 HBCU scholars including nine Central State University students: Tyunna Ansley, Levar Brown, Morgan Harper-Sanders, Carlynn Jones, Makenna Taylor, Richard Wright, Anareean Covington, Makayla Smith, and Carolyn Ross-Staples.

“We are appreciative of the support of BeyGOOD, the Shawn Carter Foundation, and Tiffany & Co.” said Dr. Jack Thomas, President, Central State University. “This opportunity is timely as our students come from many different socioeconomic backgrounds. These funds will have a tremendous effect on who we recruit and our students’ success as they move on to graduate and professional schools and into their careers.”

HBCUs have served as an integral part of Black culture for over 150 years and the Tiffany & Co. About Love Scholarship program expands access and opportunities for students within the very institutions that shape history, art and culture.

“Through our social impact platform, Tiffany Atrium, we have broadened access and exposure for HBCU students and diverse talents over the past several months. The relationships we are building under our Education Pillar strengthen our brand and surrounding communities which provide meaningful progress towards our goals,” said Mary Bellai, Global Chief Human Resources Officer, Tiffany & Co., “The most exciting part is that this is only the beginning.”
