PSC Board of Trustees Elects 2022-2023 Officers
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on November 23, 2022

The Philander Smith College Board of Trustees has elected its 2022-2023 slate of officers: Dr. Terry Esper, ‘96, Chairman; Dr. Maurice D. Gipson, Vice Chairman; Dr. Patti Freemyer Martin, Secretary; and Mr. Jim Kincannon, Treasurer.

Esper, whose Board membership began in 2015, replaces Dr. Sherece Y. West-Scantlebury, the Board’s Chairwoman since June 2017. Previously, Chairman Esper served the board in several other leadership capacities including Vice Chair and Committee Chair for the Academic and Student Affairs Policy Committee. Esper is currently an Associate Professor of Logistics in the Department of Marketing and Logistics at the Ohio State University Fisher College of Business.

Dr. Maurice Gipson became a trustee in 2020 and began his service as Vice Chairman in June 2022.

He provides leadership as Chair for the Nominations and Governance Committee. Gipson is the Vice Chancellor of Inclusion, Diversity and Equity at the University of Missouri.

Dr. Patti Freemyer Martin joined the PSC Board in 2020 and was elected Secretary effective June 1, 2022. She has provided service on various committees, including the Academic and Student Affairs Policy Committee and the Buildings and Grounds Committee. Martin is the Director of Audiology and Speech at Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

Originally elected to the board in June 2013, Jim Kincannon has been the Treasurer since June 2021. With his re-election, he will continue to serve in this capacity through his final term of board service. Kincannon is a General Partner with AHBI Consolidated, Inc.
