Posted By: S. Moore on December 12, 2022 FLINT, MI -- A forum will be held later this month to help educate and promote the importance of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and the opportunities they can provide to Flint students. All Flint-area middle schoolers and high schoolers are invited to the first annual “Flint to Historically Black Colleges & Universities” Forum that will be held at 5 p.m. Dec. 27 at the Flint Public Library, located at 1026 E. Kearsley St. Several current college students and alums of HBCUs will be in attendance to discuss HBCU culture and experiences, according to a news release from organizer Hailee Clack. “Students must have the opportunity to discover that HBCUs provide an affordable, quality education while allowing them to find pride in their history and plentiful opportunities for their futures,” Hailee Clack, a current HBCU student and founder of The Floyd and Brenda Clack (FCB) Initiative, said. Twelve HBCUs will be represented from across the country. There will be a Q&A session, along with discussions on student life, Greek life and extracurricular activities at the universities. Clack founded The FBC Initiative to increase college readiness rates among Flint youth. Clack, who currently attends an HBCU, founded the initiative in honor of her grandparents, Floyd and Brenda, who both graduated from HBCUs.
