N.C. A&T Names Harrison Director Of Undergraduate Admissions
Posted By: S. Moore on December 19, 2022

EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Dec. 19, 2022) – North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University announced Dominique Harrison ‘16 has been named director of undergraduate admissions.

“The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is pleased to welcome Mr. Harrison back into the Aggie family,” said Dawn Nail, Ed.D., N.C. A&T interim associate vice provost for enrollment management. “He is a well-respected higher education professional with a diverse background, and we look forward to his success in this role.”

A total of 13,487 students enrolled at A&T for the Fall 2022 semester, marking the university’s ninth straight year as the nation’s largest historically Black college or university (HBCU) and the largest headcount in the history of any HBCU. Its strategic plan calls for the university to enroll 14,000 students by Fall 2023. A&T enrolls more Black freshmen each year than U.S. News & World Report’s top 10 national universities combined.

Harrison returns to A&T from Norfolk State University, where he was director of undergraduate recruitment and admissions since February 2020 and provided leadership in advancing optimal strategic undergraduate recruitment and admissions initiatives to achieve enrollment goals.

He developed and managed an aggressive recruitment plan and programs designed to attract and retain a diverse pool of first-year students in alignment with the university’s strategic plan.

Before that, Harrison was senior associate director for diversity initiatives in the Office of Admissions at Appalachian State University, a role he held since October 2016.

Harrison’s first tenure with A&T began in October 2009, when he was assistant director of undergraduate admissions. From 2013 to 2016, he held multiple roles in the A&T School of Education, now College of Education.

Harrison earned a B.A. in communication studies with a minor in African American studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and M.S. in adult education specializing in higher education from A&T. He is a graduate of Appalachian State’s Leadership Development Program, the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) Admissions Middle Management Institute the College Board Enrollment Leadership Academy.

Additionally, he is a member of NACAC, the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education, American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers and the College Board AP Higher Education Advisory Committee.
