JSU Star Linebacker Aubrey Miller Jr. Encourages Black Men To 'Come Back Home' And Play For HBCUs

Posted By: S. Moore on December 20, 2022 More players are encouraged to play at HBCUs, says Aubrey Miller Jr. He is the star linebacker for JSU and the SWAC Defensive Player of the Year. Even though Jackson State University’s good times under Coach Prime are over, Miller is still upbeat. Following Saturday’s game, he offered some wise advice to Black men who are thinking about a future in football. “Your talent needs to come back home. You need to play for your people. If we do it you can do it,” he said with confidence and pride. According to 16 ABC, Jackson State lost in the Celebration Bowl for the second consecutive season in what was the team’s final game with Deion Sanders as coach. North Carolina Central defeated Jackson State University (JSU) by a score of 41-34 in overtime. This was JSU’s first and only loss of the 2022 season. As a team, JSU allowed the most points they had all season, and the Eagles rushed for 276 yards while the Tigers were limited to 68. The Tigers were outstanding in spite of the loss. With a 27-6 record, an unblemished 11-0 regular season, and back-to-back SWAC championships, Deion Sanders leaves JSU to become head coach at Colorado. He thanked everyone he could think of, including AD Ashley Robinson, for giving him the chance to be a college head coach. Shedeur Sanders also talked about his experience attending an HBCU and being a part of the Jackson community after his final game wearing a Jackson State uniform. Miller sat beside him ready to share his thoughts. As soon as Miller’s video went up, the internet erupted in support.
