Bowl is Founding Partner of Postseason All-Star Game to be Played Feb. 25 in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS – The Allstate Sugar Bowl will again partner with the HBCU Legacy Bowl, a postseason all-star game that will showcase the best NFL draft-eligible football players from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The second annual all-star game will be played on Saturday, February 25 at Tulane’s Yulman Stadium and will be televised by the NFL Network.

More than a football game, the HBCU Legacy Bowl, presented by the Black College Football Hall of Fame, is a week-long celebration of Black culture and history that will provide invaluable exposure for HBCU football players and coaches. Approximately 100 of the top HBCU players have been invited to participate.

“Having been a leader in the postseason college football world for 90 years, the Sugar Bowl Committee is proud of its partnership with the Black College Football Hall of Fame to provide opportunities for outstanding young football players,” said Jeff Hundley, the CEO of the Allstate Sugar Bowl. “Last year’s event was a great debut for what we hope will be a part of the New Orleans sports scene for many years to come.”

“We are appreciative of the support from the Allstate Sugar Bowl, our partners with the HBCU Legacy Bowl,” said Co-Founder of the Black College Football Hall of Fame James “Shack” Harris.

“Their commitment to promoting more opportunities for HBCU students is important.”

Included in the events is the HBCU Legacy Bowl Career Fair on Thursday and Friday, February 23-24, which will provide job opportunities and career counseling for HBCU juniors and seniors. Admission is free. The Career Fair will be held from (9 a.m.-5 p.m.) at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in the La Nouvelle Orleans Ballroom. Participants will have the opportunity to connect with some of the nation’s top employers, including at least 10 NFL teams. Live presentations featuring experts in career counseling, resume writing, interviewing and more will also be part of the program.

The Allstate Sugar Bowl has established itself as one of the premier college football bowl games, having hosted 28 national champions, 102 Hall of Fame players, 52 Hall of Fame coaches and 21 Heisman Trophy winners in its 89-year history. The 90th Allstate Sugar Bowl Football Classic, which will double as a College Football Playoff Semifinal, is scheduled to be played on January 1, 2024. In addition to football, the Sugar Bowl Committee annually invests over $1 million into the community through the hosting and sponsorship of sporting events, awards, scholarships and clinics. Through these efforts, the organization supports and honors thousands of student-athletes each year, while injecting nearly $2.4 billion into the local economy in the last decade.
