ClutchPoints Doubles Down On Commitment To Diversity With New HBCU Initiative

ClutchPoints Doubles Down On Commitment To Diversity With New HBCU Initiative
Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on March 02, 2023

ClutchPoints, the sports media company created by fans for fans, is launching an initiative to amplify HBCU sports. The program includes a new vertical dedicated to HBCU sports coverage, driven by HBCU student journalists and athletes, along with video, social and podcast content.

Throughout the program, students will gain hands-on work experience, mentorship and financial compensation (in addition to scholarship opportunities). Students will sign on for a one-year term, with potential for extensions and/or full-time offers at the company as available. While ClutchPoints will prioritize recruiting HBCU students for the program, other talent will also be considered if they demonstrate an expertise and passion for HBCU sports.

As part of this effort, ClutchPoints has officially been certified as a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) by the Southern California Minority Supplier Development Council (SCMSDC).

The company has been independently owned and operated since its inception in 2015 and prioritizes editorial diversity in sports along with diversity in its staff.

With its new status as an MBE, ClutchPoints will expand the business to focus on new programming and initiatives reflective of its widespread audience while partnering with brands and companies whose values are rooted in pushing diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) forward.

“For us, the Minority Business Enterprise certification is more than a formality,” said Nish Patel, founder and CEO of ClutchPoints. “This is an opportunity to continue transforming the way sports are covered while building a framework to inspire other minority-owned media. I am excited for the new network this will allow us to engage with and the new experiences we will create for our fans.”
