Leveraging Virtual Diversity Recruiting Events to Hire Black & Latinx Professionals and Students!

Leveraging Virtual Diversity Recruiting Events to Hire Black & Latinx Professionals and Students!
Posted By: Will Moss on March 05, 2023

The Challenge
Virtual recruiting is here to stay. It’s cost-effective, scalable, and (most importantly) diverse job seekers want it. And specifically, they like the format that we provide at HBCU CONNECT where they get to meet companies one by one in a more intimate and meaningful way, unlike a "career fair" where they are evaluating a variety of companies, not knowing if they are a fit for each company.

Despite the rise of virtual recruiting events in 2020 during the pandemic, diverse job seekers on the HBCU CONNECT platform continue to register for upcoming hiring events, knowing that they might get the opportunity to interview for a company that they normally might not have exposure to.

The Solution
Not only are job seekers happy to join in on our virtual events, but employers have also enjoyed the virtual events being hosted by HBCU CONNECT because:
  1. HBCU CONNECT provides an experienced moderator for the event, many times being hosted by CEO, Will Moss.
  2. HBCU CONNECT guarantees attendance at the events, many times far exceeding the event goals for attendance.
  3. Events with HBCU CONNECT can be executed on quickly, sometimes in as little as 3 weeks.
  4. After each HBCU CONNECT event, employers received all resumes from interested attendees. Even those that were interested but not able to attend.
  5. HBCU CONNECT sources and screens candidates according the needs of the hiring organization, for ever event.

The Results
Prior to the COVID 19 pandemic, most of the diversity recruiting events hosted by HBCU CONNECT were in person and all over the United States, with the results being impressive in terms of post event interviews and hires.

Since introducing our virtual event offering in 2020, we have hosted an average of 6 events per month with some events resulting in over 40 interviews, and 18 hires of experienced professional African American and Latinx candidates.

One large tech employer, with headquarters in the Pacific Northwest hired more African American engineers from HBCU CONNECT than with any other partner during the pandemic.

Next Steps
Our calendar fills up quickly. Usually we are booked 4 to 6 weeks in advance.

If you would like to discuss how we might partner to host a virtual or in-person diversity recruitment event for your organization, contact us today at sales@hbcuconnect.com or goto https://hbcuconnect.com/cgi-bin/jobs/rates...
