he Charlotte Symphony to Hold Joint Performance with Johnson C. Smith University Concert Choir

Smith University for the first time in more than a decade to share the stage with the JCSU Concert Choir on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. at the Jack S. Brayboy Gymnasium. This special collaboration, led by Resident Conductor Christopher James Lees, will feature the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and the JCSU Concert Choir along with solo performances by JCSU Director of Choral Activities and University Soloist Dr. Shawn-Allyce White. This uplifting program will feature works by a diverse range of composers including Symphony No. 2 by French Creole virtuoso violinist and composer Joseph Bologne, the Chevalier de Saint-George; Lift Every Voice and Sing by American composer and arranger of African-American spiritual music Hall Johnson; Jessica Meyer’s Slow Burn; and La La La La by Haitian-American composer Daniel Bernard Roumain. The JCSU Drumline will close the concert with a special performance. Tickets Tickets are $5 for students and $15 for general admission.
