Saturday was the culmination of a fantastic and genuinely inspiring year for the ladies of the Fisk University Women's Gymnastics program. The institution and coach Tarver have conquered the odds of being the first-ever HBCU program of its kind.

Coach Corrine Tarver produced three All-Americans and two bronze medalists at a national championship competition in Fisk's inaugural season. The team debuted on Jan. 6, competing at the Super 16 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As a team, the Fisk Gymnastics program ranked 71st in the country with a Team National Qualifying Score of 190.005. The ladies competed as a Division III team from the Southeast against powerhouses like Oklahoma, Michigan, and Florida.

Well done, Fisk University. Well done, Morgan Price, Liberty Mora, and Zyia Coleman. You are All-Americans, champions, and role models for young ladies who will one day enter gymnastics because the phrase 'Brown Girls Do Gymnastics' so well applies to you all.

Next season, Talladega College will become the second HBCU institution to launch a ladies' gymnastics program out of the 106 HBCU schools in the country.
