Delaware State University Downtown To Host Full Day of Events - Saturday, April 22

DSU Downtown (formerly Wesley College) is inviting the community to take part is a full day of activities that will take place at that campus on Saturday, April 22.

Public is welcome to participate in the following events.

• 9 a.m. – A 5K Walk and Run, held to raise awareness to stop sexual assault. The 5K will begin at Cecil Street on the DSU Downtown and course its way through that residential area of Dover. To registrar, go to www.seashorestriders.com .

• 12 noon to 4:30 p.m. – The annual DSU Downtown Spring Festival. There will be ice cream, snow cones, face painting, balloon art, local and student vendors, as well as health & wellness screenings, a car and motorcycle show, and other activities all at the DSU Downtown campus.



• 4:30-9:30 p.m. – Jazz Under the Stars. A showcase of student musicians and featured guest musicians at the DSU Downtown Amphitheater. The performances will include the DSU Jazz Ensemble, the DSU Faculty Jazz ensemble, the all-female jazz group Shade of Blue, Oklahoma touch guitarist Dr. Lorne Lee, and the featured guest artists from Atlanta, Ga., John Robertson Trio and vocalist Rosemary Rainey. Each performance will represent a different genre of jazz. In the event of rain, the alternate site for the concert will be the Schwartz Center for the Arts, 226 S. State St. Dover, DE 19901.

The Spring Festival and the Jazz Under the Stars are free and open to the public. The 5K Run and Walk includes a $25 registration fee, the proceeds of which will go toward the University’s victim advocacy work.
