Posted By: S. Moore on April 20, 2023 Former Grambling State and Tennessee State quarterback Geremy Hickbottom has signed with the D.C Defenders of the XFL. Hickbottom spent three seasons at Grambling, appearing in 16 games and throwing for 2,823 yards, 22 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He would then head to Tennessee State for his senior season, playing in 10 games and passing for 1,847 yards, accounting for 19 TDs. Hickbottom signed with the Cologne Crocodiles of the German Football League in February. However, shortly after the deal was announced, Hickbottom informed the club that he would not play for Cologne because of the upcoming birth of his child. The Defenders are led by former HBCU coach Reggie Barlow who had stints and Alabama State and Virginia State. The Defenders hold the best record in the XFL at 8-1.
