Wilson of NCCU Volleyball Chosen for NBA HBCU Fellowship Program

Moore on April 26, 2023 DURHAM, N.C. - North Carolina Central University women's volleyball freshman Tori Wilson has been selected out of more than 5,000 applicants for the NBA HBCU Fellowship Program, which runs June-August, to provide career development opportunities in the business of basketball for students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Fellows selected by NBA teams and the league office work within various departments, including ticket sales, corporate partnerships, legal, social responsibility, and marketing. Wilson, a 6-0 middle hitter from Allen, Texas, will work in digital communications with the Washington Wizards. In partnership with Children's Defense Fund (CDF) and Fearless Dialogues, 74 HBCU students will be educated in social justice concerns and servant leadership. The program includes gathering virtually and in person at CDF's Alex Haley Farm in Clinton, Tennessee, and being employed by all 30 NBA teams and their league offices. Wilson was voted to the MEAC All-Rookie Team in the fall of 2022, after ranking seventh in the MEAC with 3.02 points per set and 10th with 2.35 kills per set. The Team MVP award winner also led the Eagles with 57 blocks and tied for second with 26 service aces. Off the court, the mass communication major carries a 3.87 grade point average.
