The 2023 Community Exchange in Atlanta, Georgia
|
Posted By: S. Moore on May 16, 2023 The 2023 Community Exchange took place from May 8-11, in Atlanta, Georgia. This year’s focus was influencing services and infrastructure that support research and education (R&E) while making an effort to involve emerging leaders and professionals from diverse institutions and organizations. Attendees participated in keynotes, expert-led talks, and workshops on topics such as digital transformation, digital inclusion and equity, cybersecurity, cloud strategy, trust and identity, advanced network modernization and automation, and collaborative projects. During the Internet2 Community Exchange event held May 8-11, leaders from historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and tribal colleges and universities (TCUs) shared their experiences on how to ensure equal participation in the national and global R&E communities. The event culminated with the keynote panel, “Reframing Our Perspective: Centering HBCU and TCU Voices to Reimagine a Stronger R&E Community,” on May 11 at the Westin Peachtree Plaza. The panelists included Sandra Boham, Deshon Miguel, Joseph Whittaker, and Urban Wiggins, who were joined by moderator Ana Hunsinger. The 2023 Internet2 Community Exchange is an event that brings together emerging and established leaders from across the R&E technology community in the U.S. Internet2 is a non-profit, member-driven advanced technology community founded by the nation’s leading higher education institutions in 1996. They provide a diverse portfolio of technology solutions that leverage and integrate the strengths of its members to support their educational, research, and community service missions, including the nation’s largest and fastest research and education network built to deliver advanced, customized services accessed and secured by the community-developed trust and identity framework.
