Harris-Stowe State University launches campus rebrand and solidifies new tagline

Harris-Stowe State University launches campus rebrand and solidifies new tagline
Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on August 01, 2023

After a yearlong process consisting of surveys, focus groups and feedback from students, faculty and staff, Harris-Stowe State University (HSSU) is thrilled to announce the launch of our new tagline: Potential, Possibility and Power.

Inspired by a new university president, a new strategic plan, a new building and ever-expanding programs, HSSU’s rebranding represents the university’s progression and continued elevation. Students come to HSSU with unlimited potential, and our dedicated faculty and caring staff introduces students to infinite possibilities, then they graduate with the power of HSSU embedded in them.

The new Potential, Possibility and Power tagline serves as a constant reminder that HSSU welcomes our scholars, mentors and educates them, which sets them up for success. Our graduates take this power into their careers and communities to accomplish their goals, impact our region, state, nation and world.
HSSU’s foundation‒ respect, care, approachability, and optimism‒ are the core values underlying “potential, possibility, and power,” and university president, Dr. LaTonia Collins Smith said the new tagline embodies what the university stands for perfectly.

“We are very excited about what this message conveys to our Harris-Stowe family and to all the communities we serve,” she said.

“We are excited about our scholars, what they bring and who they are. And we are dedicated to ensuring that they graduate with bright futures enabling them to contribute throughout the region and the world. Potential, Possibility & Power says it all.”

We were intentional about reflecting the talent our students bring, the superlative education our faculty and staff provide and the powerful contributions that our graduates will make for years to come. Our new tagline broadcasts the university's personality– enterprising, optimistic, and proactive‒ and focuses on the unique potential our scholars can tap into through academics and campus life at Harris-Stowe. In addition to the tagline, HSSU also updated its brand standards guide, power point, business cards, wordmark logo, colors and letterhead.
