Dressing up legacy: How one HBCU alumna is fashioning a future in collegiate kidswear

Dressing up legacy: How one HBCU alumna is fashioning a future in collegiate kidswear
Posted By: S. Moore on August 07, 2023

Cheylaina Fultz is the founder of HBCU Legacy Fashion, an online boutique specializing in stylish clothing for children of proud HBCU alumni and supporters.

With a passion for acting, media, and an entrepreneurial spirit, Cheylaina always had her sights set on bigger dreams. A wife, devoted mother of three, business owner, podcaster, author, former wedding planner, mentor, and avid HBCU advocate, in 2020 she made the shift into the world of collegiate children's apparel.

She saw an opportunity to connect today's youth with the historic legacy of their parent's HBCUs through fashionable matching family apparel.

Drawing on her own alma mater, North Carolina A&T State University, the largest HBCU in the nation, Cheylaina's love for her school and her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, became the driving force behind HBCU Legacy Fashion.

Cheylaina's husband, George, whom she met during her time at North Carolina A&T State University has played a significant role in the success of her business. Together, they have transformed a vision into a reality, and today, HBCU Legacy Fashion has gained significant recognition. You can find their products on Amazon Prime, and soon, they'll be available in over 60 Belk stores across six different states. Cheylaina says she is dedicated to preserving and celebrating HBCU culture through fashion and family. She aims to make a positive impact in the community and empower future generations.
