Former Jackson State football player Isaiah Bolden appreciates 'the prayers' after scary injury

Former Jackson State football player Isaiah Bolden appreciates

Former Jackson State football player Isaiah Bolden, who was carted off the field during the New England Patriots’ preseason game against the Green Bay Packers Saturday night, has been released from the hospital.

Per a release from the Patriots, Bolden underwent a series of evaluations before being released from the Aurora Bay Medical Center in Green Bay, Wisc. The rookie defensive back traveled with the team back to Foxborough, Mass. on Sunday.

During the fourth quarter of Saturday night’s contest, Bolden appeared to collide with teammate Calvin Mubson while attempting to tackle former Ole Miss and now-Packers wide receiver Malik Heath.

As medical officials treated an unconscious Bolden, both teams left their respective sidelines to join the seventh-round selection on the field. The game was then called after Bolden was carted off the field with the Patriots leading 21-17 with 10:29 left to play.

Bolden’s injury quickly reminded players of Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, who went into cardiac arrest and was resuscitated on the field during a game on Jan. 2.

“It brought out that Damar feeling, and that’s just scary,” Patriots wide receiver Kendrick Bourne said, per the Associated Press. “That’s how it feels. It’s just praying for him that he’s OK. They said he was moving. He was responding pretty well. Kind of hurt in his neck a little bit. Looked like it was head-to-head, like a pile together. You just never know in these moments.”

Shortly after the game was called, it was reported that Bolden had feeling in all extremities. At this time, it’s unclear if and when Bolden will be able to return to the playing field.
