HBCU National Tennis Championships to Begin in Atlanta This Thursday

Moore on September 12, 2023 Play for the 22nd Annual Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) National Tennis Championships will be underway this Thursday, September 14 at the South Fulton Tennis Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Players at the tournament will have the opportunity to compete in both singles and doubles with numerous draws and back draws available to ensure multiple matches. Thirty-five teams from eight national conferences will be in attendance to the championships this year including the Horizon League, MEAC, CAA, SWAC, Big South, SIAC, OVC, GCAC and ECAC. Such variety in conferences brings together players from all levels of competition with numerous Division I, Division II, and NAIA institutions being represented. The Team Champion is set to be determined by individual play across the singles and doubles draws. Points will be awarded based on finish and the team with the most points at the end of the Championship will take home the Team National Championship. About the HBCU National Tennis Championship – The HBCU National Tennis Championship has always stood for providing schools with the opportunity to compete in a tournament during the Fall to allow players to meet, compete, and be crowned National Champions at the end of the tournament, both individually and as teams. The HBCU National Tennis Championship is open to HBCU schools interested in participating. Every year, the HBCU has over 15 collegiate institutions (over 30 men’s and women’s tennis programs) with close to 250 players competing in slated events, for both singles and doubles.
