Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, celebrated the induction of 12 remarkable women into its Alpha Omega Chapter as Honorary Members during a memorable ceremony at Howard University on September 19, 2023. Among these distinguished individuals, the spotlight shines brightly on Ann Nesby, renowned as the “VOICE” of Sounds of Blackness, a two-time Grammy award-winning singer, songwriter, actress, and devoted community advocate.

Ann Nesby’s illustrious career spans music, film, and stage, where her talents shine both in front of and behind the camera. Her voice, often referred to as one of the most powerful and captivating in the industry, is synonymous with the Sounds of Blackness, a group that has garnered international acclaim.



Her versatility as an artist is evident through her appearances in various cinematic and theatrical productions.



Nesby made her mark in the film “Fighting Temptation” and on stage in plays such as Tyler Perry’s “I Know I’ve Been Changed.” Most recently, she graced the Broadway stage, portraying the role of Gran Georgeanna in the hit musical “Tina – The Tina Turner Musical,” captivating audiences with her exceptional talent.

As a community advocate, Ann Nesby’s dedication to making a positive impact extends beyond her artistic endeavors.
