Nike Honors Spelman College, The First Womens’ HBCU, With A Terminator High

Nike Honors Spelman College, The First Womens’ HBCU, With A Terminator High
Posted By: S. Moore on September 26, 2023

Historically regarded as the oldest attested Black institution for women in the United States, Spelman College holds centuries of rich history, culture and tradition in shaping the future minds of the world. As Nike continues to shine a spotlight on Historically Black Colleges and Universities through both product and monetary investments, the Beaverton brand is now paying tribute to the Spelman Lady Jaguars with their own Nike Terminator High.

Composed of a smooth leather base layer and messy suede overlays, the entirety of the upper assumes a clad-grey treatment that acts as somewhat of a blank slate for the school’s synonymous light blue tint to amplify its various embellishments.

The latter lucid blue treatment stretches far and wide, from the profile swooshes and the forefoot’s “1881” branding to the laces, trim of the tongue and the heel’s appearance of a portion of the Spelman Hymn; “Thy Name We Praise.” Jaguar-centric inspirations render complimentary royal blue pawprints along both the icy blue tread and insoles while further amplifying the laces “Undaunted By The Fight” print and the threading of the cream-white midsole. Lastly, the school’s emblem has been stamped atop the tongue tab with the medial side reading “A Choice to Change the World.”

Enjoy a detailed look at the Nike Terminator High “Spelman College” below while we await further release details.

For more from the Beaverton brand, the Ja 1 “Ducking No Smoke” releases on October 6th.
