Moore on October 09, 2023 AAMU Sets Homecoming Fundraising Record of over $1.4 Million Alabama A&M University has set a new Homecoming fundraising record, receiving over $1.4 million in gifts during weekend festivities. The successful effort more than doubles the fundraising total from Homecoming 2022. Saturday, thousands of Alabama A&M University students, alumni, parents and friends poured onto campus, with 26,391 fans inside Louis Crews Stadium setting a new attendance record. The enthusiasm extended far beyond the excitement of the Bulldogs 58-3 victory over Tuskegee on the football field. The University also announced a record for Homecoming fundraising. “This milestone is extremely important and exciting for the University, said Jamal Ali, VP of Marketing, Communications and Advancement. “This demonstrates the love and care Alabama A&M alumni and friends have for the University and its students. It shows our community believes in the path for growth that has been set by our President and administration.” Class reunions set the pace as AAMU raised over $1.4 million in support of scholarships and initiatives. Gifts from AAMU class reunions totaled more than $700,000. Homecoming corporate donors included Alabama Power, Turner Construction, Regions, ServisFirst Bank, Deloitte, Ford, the Michaels Group, and BET. Additionally, the 150th Anniversary Committee, the Delta Gamma chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, the Marching Maroon & White Band Boosters, James Powell, and Prince Hall Masons all presented checks to the University. Several opportunities to give are still available according to Assistant Vice President Aaron Thompson. “Fundraising efforts for the AAMU Marching Maroon & White band continue at www.aamu.edu/macys,” he said. “Alumni and friends of the University can also make gifts to any University scholarship or initiative at www.aamu.edu/give.” SOURCE Alabama A&M University Newsdeck If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
