Johnson C Smith University Announces 2023 Homecoming Parade Lineup

Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on October 12, 2023 Homecoming celebrations at Johnson C. Smith University wouldn’t be complete without our annual parade. This year’s parade lineup features nearly 40 participants who will step off at 10 a.m. to process down Beatties Ford Road, which will be closed beginning at 9 a.m. The parade will begin at United House of Prayer for All at 2321 Beatties Ford Road, and will end at the intersection of Beatties Ford Road and Cemetery Street. This year’s parade is marshalled by Dr. Valerie Kinloch, the 15th president of Johnson C. Smith University. Parade goers can expect yearly favorites, including the IIOS Marching Band, the JCSU Royal Court, the JCSU student-government association, Luv-A-Bulls cheer squad and the JCSU dance team. Elected officials, including Congresswoman Alma Adams and Councilman Malcolm Graham will also appear on the parade route along with JCSU Board of Trustees Chairman Steven L. Boyd and USA Olympic Champion Danielle Williams. Other participants include: • Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office • Queen City Classic Car and Truck • City Swag Majorette & Dance • Garinger High School Band • Dream Drill Team • Committee to Elect Charles Osborne • Ravens Dance Team • iDance Company • Jumping Dreams • Quality Ed Academy – Pharaoh’s Army of Sound Band • Gamma Lambda – Delta Sigma Theta • Swann Middle School Drum and Dance • Shipp Campaign (Lenora Shipp, Re-elect for At-Large School Board) • Charlotte Ultimate Cheer • Divine Purpose Dance Factory • JCSU National Alumni Association • Coulwood STEM Academy Cheerleading • Prince Hall Masons/Order of the Eastern Star • Marvel Dance Academy • Alpha Omicron Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. • Mullins High School Marching Band • JCSU Future Smithites • Winston-Salem High Steppers • James Martin Middle School Cheerleading • Carolina Elite Riderz • Harding High School Band • Trailbred Riderz For more information about Homecoming at Johnson C.
