Hampton Women’s Triathlon Qualifies for Collegiate National Championships

Posted By: S. Moore on October 18, 2023 HUDDLESTON, Va. (Oct. 16th, 2023) … Hampton University women's triathlon team competed in their third event of season at the Blue Ridge Traithlon Festival. This weekends race had huge implications for the season as it was a qualifier for the Collegiate National Championships. In a race featuring a 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike, and 5-kilometer run, the Lady Pirates qualified for the National Championships. This marks the first time in program history that Hampton has qualified for the national tournament. Junior Jordyn Bryant led HU with an overall time of 1:25.07. The Los Angles Calif. native, placed 105th overall. However she would finish 85th in the swim with a time of 12:49. Denver's Maira Carreau won the race with a time of 57:29.1. HU's Niya Buckner and Heather Wynne completed the race setting program history on Saturday. Since the inception of the program, Hampton had not completed and finished with all three team members. The Lady Pirates now gear up for the National Championships in Tempe, Ariz. on Nov. 11th.
