THE AFFECTS OF VR ON THE ELDERLY

THE AFFECTS OF VR ON THE ELDERLY
Posted By: William Watson on December 07, 2023

Over the years from 2019 to 2023, there have been studies run on the elderly whose ages range from 60 to 80 years old to see how virtual reality affects them. There are a lot of benefits for the elderly when they use VR. These benefits include:
• Reducing loneliness
• Improving medical care
• Providing entertainment
• Keeping the brain active
• Strengthening neural connectors
• Promotes movement
• Promotes social engagement
• Provides educational opportunities
With these in mind, VR can be a great gift to give to your grandparents.

If they’re feeling alone, bored, need to be a little more active, need to be more social, or want to have activities, they can use VR to help them improve some qualities for themselves.
There are some drawbacks to the elderly using VR and that’s:
• Headaches
• Tiredness
• Eyestrain
• Neck pain
• Shoulder pain
• Disorientation
• Nausea
• Dizziness
These drawbacks are like the drawbacks of sitting in an office on a computer all day which can bring some annoyance to them. But, if they use VR sparingly and wisely, these problems should be constant. Using VR is a great way for the elderly to be more active, and productive and to have more fun even with the drawbacks.
