|
Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on December 15, 2023 The National Park Service Historically Black Colleges & Universities Grant Program (HBCU) is accepting applications until Jan. 17, 2024. Congress has appropriated $11 million for this round of grants that support the preservation of historic buildings and structures on HBCU campuses. The grants can be used by HBCUs to identify and restore campus landmarks that are historically significant and physically threatened. Funds are available for a broad range of pre-preservation planning activities and physical preservation work. More information about the grants and the application process is available online at https://zwly9k6z.r.us-east-1.awstrack.me/L... Eligible projects include preservation documentation and planning efforts as well as "brick and mortar" preservation/conservation work related to historic sites such as buildings and structures. The grants will be awarded through a competitive process and do not require non-federal funding match. The money for the program is appropriated by Congress through the Historic Preservation Fund. Since its establishment, more than $60 million has been allocated to HBCUs to document, preserve, and stabilize structures. www.nps.gov About the National Park Service.
