This week, U.S. National Science Foundation Director Sethuraman Panchanathan welcomed Gintaras Valinčius, chairman of the Research Council of Lithuania and Audra Plepytė, Lithuanian ambassador to the U.S., to NSF headquarters.

This week, U.S. National Science Foundation Director Sethuraman Panchanathan welcomed Gintaras Valinčius, chairman of the Research Council of Lithuania and Audra Plepytė, Lithuanian ambassador to the U.S., to NSF headquarters.
Discussions centered around the International Multilateral Partnerships for Resilient Education and Science System in Ukraine (IMPRESS-U) initiative, as well as the potential for bilateral collaboration on topics of mutual interest and benefit.

IMPRESS-U is an NSF-led, jointly funded program with two primary goals:

To support excellence in science and engineering research, education and innovation through international collaboration.

To promote the integration of Ukrainian scientists into the international research community.
This initiative builds on prior NSF investments and bilateral agreements to create a unique and exciting opportunity drawing on partner nations' collective strengths to unleash new talent, ideas and innovations at speed and scale.

The director continued to foster international partnerships at an event hosted by the Embassy of India, alongside India's Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology Abhay Karandikar, Secretary of the Department of Telecommunication Neeraj Mittal, and Chair of the Empowered Committee for Industry Collaboration and Internationalization B.S. Murty.

Strengthening the underlying foundations of international partnerships — from the individual to the institutional level — is critical for creating even more opportunities for tackling global grand challenges.
