Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on January 18, 2024

Richland Library is set to captivate art enthusiasts and literary aficionados alike with the unveiling of a thought-provoking gallery exhibition featuring the brilliant works of Benedict College art students. The spotlight of this showcase is the collaborative graphic novel, "The Wonders of an HBCU," a visual narrative that explores the richness of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Guided by the expertise of graphic novel artist Sanford Greene, this exhibit transcends boundaries, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in a world where creativity, culture, and education converge.

The gallery comes alive with a dynamic display of artistic prowess, as Benedict College students showcase their talents through a collection that seamlessly weaves together visual storytelling and cultural exploration. The pieces reflect a deep appreciation for the unique experiences found within HBCUs, fostering a sense of pride and celebration.

The Artistry of Sanford Greene:
Benedict's resident artist, Sanford Greene, brings his unparalleled expertise to the exhibit. With a career spanning over 15 years, Greene's work in comic illustration has left an indelible mark. His collaboration with students on "The Wonders of an HBCU" graphic novel showcases a commitment to fostering emerging talent and telling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences.

Collectible Graphic Novel:
As a focal point of the gallery, "The Wonders of an HBCU" graphic novel is available for purchase, offering attendees the opportunity to own a tangible piece of this remarkable artistic endeavor.

Gallery Reception:
The exhibition is complemented by a reception on January 19, 2024, that invites visitors to engage with the artwork and connect with the creative minds behind the project. The reception is more than an event; it's an immersive experience designed to ignite conversations and inspire a deeper appreciation for the intersection of art and education.
