Let me Know whats going on

Let me Know whats going on
Posted By: Carolyn Ann Powell on June 10, 2006

As the founder of the club NAACP I feel that maybe we should initiate some topics of concern that anyone may have. There is a lot going on in the world right now. How do you feel about the Mexicans coming over to the United Sates? Is Bush right or wrong?
Well I believe that he is finally right for a change. We need to get our own country together before we start letting in others and that goes for any race. There is a certain way to get into this country if you folow the right protocol then so be it. I'm not saying that immigrants of any race can't be allowed in the US but I think that we help other countries and bypass our own. We give thounsands of dollars and food to poor countries.

That is very noble but we also have poor and homeless people right here where is their support. It's difficult to give a straight answer or just say its right or wrong but something needs to be done about the immigration laws. I know a mexican on my dad job ( which is constrution) that gets all his benefits free of charge. My dad asked him why doesn't he get insurance and the guy replied that he gets medicaid and food stamps. These immigrants are getting handouts and they aren't even here legally. I say immigrants cause I don't want it to seem as if I'm attacking Mexicans its goes for anyone who is here illegally. We need to learn how to help our own a little more. Lets get our country right then accept others. So what's your view?

i agree. In order for the United States to be a great contributor to the world, we need to help ourselves first. You cannot help another person without helping yourself. The same goes with loving yourself as well. Good Blog

Mr Knight I understand that the jobs were here prior to them getting here but i never once mentioned the job aspect. I don't care that they come here and work its the fact that they are here illegally and they are getting handouts

Great job, keep up the great work.
We give out handouts to all other cultures of the world, I say there is a limit to everything and take care of home 1st.
We would consider parents abusive if they took care of everyone else but their own children. Yes we can help people but when I last looked, we have homeless, hungry etc. Don't let me get started on Hurricane Katrina...
We are the only country in the world where we have to speak other peoples language before our own.
I mean when I was in Germany, we had to speak their language 1st...

My dear sister, you speak of this country as if it's your own. You are just as alienated as they are, only the government has deceived you into believing that because you live here, you're apart of their social order. Ha! Perhaps your response to this occasion is only a way of venting your jealousy for a people that get treated better than you when you're supposed to be a citizen. Don't attack the immigrants because they want freedom and a fair and equal chance. Attack your government for their undeniable hypocrisy. Don' t agree with the President's policies, question why his policies don't extend to the rest of his country. Perhaps there will be more social change this way.

if i belong here or notthey are immigrants and there are laws for them to get into this country. If your trying to say that we are all from Africa i'm tired of that bull. Its been hundreds of years since we been in the USA. You don't have to live here no more you can go back to your motherland. I will never forget what this country has done to my ANCESTORS but i know i wouldn't want to be in any other countryVery rarely do I agree with our president but like you said it extends to the rest of our country and those immigrants are not apart of this country. I never said they shouldn't be allowed over here i said they should follow the correct protocol to get here. I was born and raised here so it is my own. Next time attack the issue and not the person. There are many glitches in our system and every thing won't be perfect.

Yes, you are here, and this is the country in which you live. I live here to, do not get my message twisted...yet to agree with a man that promotes lies and propaganda is absurd. And do not believe that immigrants have not followed protocol to get into this country. Many have tried and have been denied access, so U.S. DIPLOMACY only goes so far. I am not attacking you as a person. I do not know you, and I do not feel myself to be that presumptuous. I am only responding to a message and to an issue. Plus, the hypocrisy of this society is endless. We would allow illegal immigrants to work in our hotels and sweat shops for less money than what we make, but the moment someone tells us that they're taking our jobs, we get all defensive. This is a SCAPEGOAT for the issues that the President is unwilling to resolve. People here illegally make up less than 5% of our work force, so if they were gone, nothing would really change. They are not causing unemployment. These are the same tactics Hitler used to turn the German citizens against the Jews. We must not buy into the hype. As I have said before, these people are only trying to lead a life that has hope for the future. If we are supposed to be humanitarians, we might have sympathy for such strivings. After all, there is a war going on that goes under the same premise, so why is it different when it comes to the homeland? Like you said, there are many glitches in the system...but it doesn't have to be like that. And one other thing...to deny one's homeland and one's history is an abomination. To be convinced that you are at home in the land of someone that feels YOU are the stranger is completely misguided and negligent. To call ideas of the motherland "bull" is both egotistical and brainwashed. I never said that it was my intent to go back to Africa (although PanAfricanism is one of the most brilliant strategies known to the black race), so do not feel that you have come to know me. If you do not like feeling on the defensive, do not return the favor. This is the first step in losing a mental battle that I was never trying to wage. Thank you for the pleasant debate. I hope to have more like it in the future.

I feel as if this is a healthy debate because like you said I don't know you and vice versa but yes i feel that the motherland thing is bull. Thats my opinion. I was born and raised here this is my home I've never been to Africa. What has happenened to my ancestors i can't carry that on my back. People aren't going to agree and thats fine because we are different and come from different backgrounds. Even our are of where we grew up is different, our belief system also. That doesn't mean that i don't have the history either. I understand what your saying but i agree to disagree. I do agree with what you said about the immigrants aren't taking our jobs. I don't believe they are I believe they do the jobs that the average american citizen is afraid to do or just don't want to do. I don't believe in many things that our president says and this issue is the only one i do agree wit him on. You make strong points you should think being on the debate team. I was on one and it was fun. When you can debate about a subject you really don't believe in and get others to think you do your really good.

I agree! This country gives to any and everyone, as long as you do not live in it. I think we need to look out for our country men first and foremost. We have to adapt as it is to the language barriers that are put in place by so many immiagrants living over here. what other country throws there own langauge to the back burner, and tells it's people to press a button just to get it? I am not a racist, I feel that if you break the law! and this should go for everyone ( do the time) or in thier case send them back home. Hey I would say that it's only fair, but this is America.
