Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on February 20, 2024

The Louisiana Association of Broadcasters held their College2Career this past weekend on Saturday, February 17th at Grambling State University in Grambling, Louisiana. The event is a student workshop for college mass communication students interested in pursuing a career in broadcasting.

The event included a radio panel, a television panel and professional development rounds. Radio panelists included Aaron Dietrich (KMLB-FM), Chica Montez (Townsquare Media), Michelle Southern (Guaranty Media) and Scooterman Pro (Cumulus Media). Television panelists included Aaron Dietrich (KNOE-TV), Brittany Breeding (KTBS-TV), Chelsea Monae (KARD/KTVE-TV) and Jasmine Franklin (KSLA-TV). During professional development rounds, students met with 16 stations from across the state to discuss one-on-one tips and networking for their future careers.

Grambling State University professor and Director of Operations for KGRM-FM Charlston Talbert is responsible for bringing College2Career to an HBCU for the very first time.

Charlston worked with the LAB for seven months to plan the event which took place in the Black and Gold Room in the Favrot Student Union on the university’s campus. Charlston coordinated with the university’s student union and facilities to host the event. The LAB would like to recognize Charlston’s hard work and effort in planning the event and his passion for educating students on the broadcast industry.

About LAB
Founded in 1947, the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters is the only statewide organization dedicated, solely, to promoting and protecting the interests of Louisiana's Broadcast Industry. Our goal is to provide a stable governmental and community environment in which Louisiana Radio and Television Stations may continue to fulfill the needs and desires of their listening and viewing audiences. Regular membership is open to Radio and Television stations licensed in Louisiana by the FCC. Associate membership is designed exclusively for companies providing products or services to the broadcast industry or who has an interest in the broadcast industry.
