Pharrell Williams' Black Ambition HBCU Tour comes to FAMU This Weekend!

Moore on March 01, 2024 The Black Ambition HBCU tour is coming to Florida A&M University's campus this weekend and giving entrepreneurs an opportunity to access resources, team up with group mentorship with industry leaders and participate in a $10,000 pitch competition. The initiative is the brainchild of Grammy Award-winning artist Pharrell Williams, in partnership with Techstars and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. The idea is to give undergraduate and graduate students at historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and non-student entrepreneurs a chance "to experience the highs, lows, fun and pressure that make up life at a startup." FAMU is one of several HBCUs on the tour: North Carolina Central University, Texas Southern University, Atlanta University, a consortium of four HBCUs — Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, Morehouse School of Medicine and Spelman College — and more. "Students will ideate, learn to validate business ideas, and create real companies with support from the very best mentors, investors, and seasoned entrepreneurs – all of whom are committed to bridging the wealth and opportunity gap by investing in Black entrepreneurs at an early stage," according to the event website.
