MSNBC President Rashida Jones To Deliver Keynote at University of the District of Columbia Commencement

Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on March 18, 2024 The University of the District of Columbia (UDC) will hold its 47th annual Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The keynote address will be given by Rashida Jones, President of MSNBC. Ms. Jones took the helm of MSNBC in 2021, becoming the first Black woman to lead a major cable news network. Under her leadership, MSNBC has further defined itself as the premier media channel for breaking news, award-winning journalism, in-depth analysis and perspectives. In her role, she is responsible for oversight of all programming, editorial units, business development and technical operations of the network. Prior to that, Ms. Jones served as Senior Vice President of NBC News and MSNBC where she led MSNBC’s dayside and weekend programming and served as the executive producer of the two most-watched Democratic presidential debates in history. She is an award-winning journalist who earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Media-Arts Broadcast from Hampton University, where she has since launched a scholarship in her name for future journalists. The event is limited to graduating seniors and guests, along with faculty, administrators, and other invited community members. It is not open to the public.
