Accepting Submissions: The 2024 National Academies Eric & Wendy Schmidt Awards for Excellence in Science Communications

Submissions are now being accepted through March 31 for the 2024 National Academies Eric and Wendy Schmidt Awards for Excellence in Science Communications!

These awards, given by the National Academies in partnership with Schmidt Sciences, recognize excellent science communicators, science journalists, and research scientists who have developed creative, original work to communicate issues and advances in science, engineering, or medicine for the general public.

Submissions are encouraged from individuals who have developed high-quality communications in 2023 and demonstrated the potential or ability to communicate the spectrum of science, engineering, or medicine.

Entries are accepted in the following subcategories:

9 Awards for Research Scientists will focus on three subcategories: graduate student researchers, early-career researchers , and later-career researchers.
9 Awards for Science Journalists will focus on three subcategories: local/regional journalists, early-career journalists, and freelance journalists.
6 Awards for Science Communicators will focus on two subcategories: independent communicators and organizational communicators.
