Xavier’s Karen Marshall Thrives In STEM

Xavier’s Karen Marshall Thrives In STEM
Posted By: Tangela Parker on March 26, 2024

Karen N. Marshall, CEO of Innovative STEM Solutions, has partnered with the American Heart Association to provide students with a game-changing, innovative marine science experience. The event is set to take place on March 26 at Truist Plaza from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. STEM Goes Red is an initiative of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement and is offered to 9th through 12th-grade girls. The local STEM Goes Red program is sponsored by Southwire, Chart, and AT&T, brings to life exciting and impactful careers in STEM, and gives participating students access to leading employers, local experts, and an insider look at what a career in STEM could entail. The innovative marine science experiment led by Karen N. Marshall, CEO of Innovative STEM Solutions, aims to inspire young women to pursue rewarding careers in STEM fields, specifically marine science. The experiment will give the participating students hands-on experience in marine science and allow them to work alongside leading experts in the industry. “Game-changing innovations depend upon each of us bringing our unique perspectives. That’s why it’s important to support young women and encourage them to raise their hands in the classroom today, so in the years to come, they’re prepared to raise their voices in the boardroom or the operating room,” said Christy Wright, chairwoman for the 2024 Atlanta STEM Goes Red and senior vice president of corporate finance for Southwire.

“The more we close the gender gap in research and access to quality care, the closer we get to improving the health and well-being of all Americans.” Karen N. Marshall, CEO of Innovative STEM Solutions, is a passionate advocate for women in STEM fields and has been a driving force in promoting STEM education and careers for young women.

Under her leadership, Innovative STEM Solutions has been at the forefront of developing innovative educational programs that inspire and empower young women to pursue careers in STEM. The American Heart Association’s STEM Goes Red was launched in 2017 as part of the Go Red for Women® movement, which for more than 20 years has catalyzed change, improving women’s lives by advancing equitable research and care, advocating for inclusive health policies and raising awareness of women’s No. 1 health threat–cardiovascular disease. “I am thrilled to be partnering with the American Heart Association to provide this innovative marine science experience for young women,” said Karen N. Marshall, CEO of Innovative STEM Solutions. “By inspiring and empowering young women to pursue careers in STEM, we can help to close the gender gap in critical sectors that impact health and well-being, such as healthcare, research, and technology.”
