Delaware State University Awards Honorary Doctorates To The Jamaican PM And The CEO Of Excelon

Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on May 13, 2024 Delaware State University presented Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters degrees to its May 10 Commencement keynote speakers – Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness and Exelon CEO and President Calvin Butler. Prime Minister Andrew Holness – DSU Graduate Commencement Keynote Speaker – became the first current Head of State to speak at the DSU Commencement Ceremony and the second to visit the campus (President Joe Biden came to the DSU campus in 2022 to announce his College Debt Reduction initiative). In 2016, Prime Minister Holness became the youngest person elected as Jamaica’s Head of State. Calvin Butler leads Exelon, the largest energy delivery company in the U.S. He is one of only eight African Americans to serve as CEO of a Fortune 500 company. Mr. Butler was the Keynote Speaker at the DSU Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony. The Graduate Commencement and the Undergraduate Commencement ceremonies were held in the William B.
