Megan “Meme” Kelly, CEO and founder of Silk Me Kids, has captivated the beauty industry with her remarkable transition from Public Health to cosmetology. Her journey serves as an inspiring testament to resilience, passion, and the pursuit of one's true calling.

After graduating from Dillard University (C/O 2010) with a degree in Public Health, Meme Kelly embarked on a fulfilling career dedicated to community wellness. Yet, alongside her professional endeavors, Meme found herself drawn to the world of beauty. Working part-time in the industry ignited a passion within her that would ultimately redefine her career trajectory.

Within just two short years, Meme made the bold decision to pivot from Public Health to cosmetology, fully committing herself to her newfound passion. Her entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to excellence propelled her forward as she diligently built her clientele and honed her skills in the beauty realm.

Today, as the CEO of Silk Me Kids, Meme Kelly stands as a beacon of innovation and empowerment. Her brand not only encompasses the first kids' hair salon and spa in the New Orleans area but also a meticulously curated line of hair care products designed specifically for youth.

Silk Me Kids specializes in addressing the unique needs of children's hair, focusing on healthy hair care and repair, growth and moisture retention, and managing unmanageable hair with precision and care.

Meme's commitment to excellence shines through in every aspect of her brand, from product formulation to customer experience.

Meme also offers a junior cosmetology program where she teaches children ages 7-17 various aspects of cosmetology, including fundamentals of hair, braiding, hair styling, fantasy hair and updos, makeup, and nail care. Students also gain insights on the development and use of beauty products.

“My journey from Public Health to cosmetology is a testament to the power of following one's passion and embracing change fearlessly,” said Megan “Meme” Kelly, CEO of Silk Me Kids. “My dedication to empowering youth and fostering self-confidence through beauty is evident in every aspect of Silk Me Kids.”

As she continues to make waves in the beauty industry, Meme Kelly remains deeply grateful for her alma mater, Dillard University, where she laid the foundation for her remarkable journey. Her story serves as an inspiration to aspiring entrepreneurs and advocates for the transformative power of pursuing one's dreams wholeheartedly.
