FIRST-EVER HBCU ALL-STARS INTERNATIONAL TOUR THRILLS IN FRANCE

Guided by founder Travis Williams and esteemed HBCU head coach Cy Alexander, the team comprised players from all four HBCU conferences and Tennessee State University. The tour included participation in the prestigious QUIA 54 International Tournament, where the team faced stiff competition in an abbreviated 18-minute format and narrowly fell short with a 42-38 loss in their sole tournament game. Despite the outcome, the experience provided invaluable exposure for the players and highlighted their resilience in adapting to international play. In addition to the tournament, the squad engaged in a series of exhibition games against European professional teams, finishing with a commendable 2-2 record. These games not only showcased the talent and competitive spirit of HBCU basketball but also served as a platform to foster cultural exchange and sportsmanship in diverse settings. Reflecting on the tour, Travis Williams expressed pride in the team's performance and emphasized the historic significance of the journey. He noted, "What an amazing and historic moment. It was an opportunity for 10 of our most esteemed HBCU All-Star Game alums to participate in this historic moment." Cy Alexander, the seasoned coach at the helm, acknowledged the challenges faced during the tour while commending the players for their conduct both on and off the court. "I was very pleased with how our squad handled themselves in a very hostile environment with the fans and tough officiating," Alexander remarked. Despite obstacles like adversarial crowds and contentious officiating, the team demonstrated poise and represented their families, institutions, and country admirably. The tour not only marked a significant step forward for HBCU basketball in terms of international exposure but also laid the groundwork for future endeavors.
