Mike, an on-the-rise rapper from Atlanta who recently released “Toss It” off his debut mixtape ‘Keep It G.’ O.G. Mike is an on-the-rise hip-hop artist from Atlanta whose recent freestyle ” was crowned by Radio God Stu of Atlanta’s Hot 107.9 “Cyphers With Stu” in a series that highlights breakout artists. To celebrate, we asked him a few questions about his upbringing, debut mixtape Keep It G and future plans. Interviewer: What inspired your song “Toss It”? Mike: What inspired “Toss It” was where I was at in life. I was in living in trailer park mobile homes in Riverdale, GA at the time, popping me sh**, getting money, and I had got into a lil altercation with my folks and the rest history. I put it in a song and now we hear. Interviewer: What inspired you to create your debut mixtape Keep It G? Mike: It was the stuff going on at the type I wrote or freestyles the songs, s***. I had plenty names in my head but when it came down to it I was like “Keep It G” no matter what. It’s a lot of trauma that comes with this and my story authentic and it’s stuff I left out I can’t put everything in one or ten songs so I’m going to always be motivated. No b*lls***, one thing and taught myself is to fear none and never fold in no situation, you can’t dwell on problems you got to make s*** shake. If you are a real n*** like me it’ll show and speak for itself, you have to sacrifice, do s*** that ain’t comfortable . You have to step in the flame. See me I’m young still but I’m older to the young n***s so I’m the voice of the ones who know what it feel like to come from s*** but ain’t speak up, I do it for them ya feel me that’s why I’m the Prophet of the Projects. Interviewer: What inspired your artist name “O.G. Mike”? Mike: My lil brother Chette and Sensei, s*** one day we was smoking in the garage at my grandma old house in Decatur, and out the blue Chette said “Aye, Mike you really the O.G. Of the young n*** like you was in the streets but now you on grown man s*** to prove a point to us young n**** that life better than the block and you know the way to do s***cause you be guiding us and giving us game on how to move and make s*** shake without being in the streets” Interviewer: What’s next on your calendar for 2024-2025? Give us the big picture? Mike: To sum it up, what’s the big picture, money, success, and seeing me on billboards, posters, at the gas stations s*** you know how it go. I’ll be on every car speaker beating down the street, people will be using my songs on the IG story, my lyrics will be captions on the page. I think it’s time for me to let them see Atlanta from my experience cause Atlanta ain’t all about negativity it’s really motion out here but y’all are about to see.
