SHAQIR O’NEAL TRANSFERS TO A NEW HBCU

Standing at 6'7" and weighing 201 pounds, Shaqir was regarded as a three-star prospect in the Class of 2021 from Union Grove Senior High School in Georgia. Beginning his college career with a redshirt season in 2021-2022, Shaqir made his debut for Texas Southern in November 2022. During the 2022-2023 season, he appeared in 20 games, averaging 1.4 points per game while playing approximately seven minutes per contest. His standout performance occurred against North American, where he posted 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists in 28 minutes on the court. Patrick Crarey, head coach of Florida A&M, expressed excitement about Shaqir's decision to join their team, noting his versatility, athleticism, and experience gained in a competitive conference under a respected coach.
