COCA-COLA UNITED UNVEILS 2024 PAY IT FORWARD INTERNSHIP COHORT

COCA-COLA UNITED UNVEILS 2024 PAY IT FORWARD INTERNSHIP COHORT
Posted By: Catalina Deossa on July 18, 2024

Coca-Cola Bottling Company United, Inc. (UNITED) has selected the 2024 cohort for its Pay It Forward internship program, aimed at supporting students attending historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). The initiative seeks to celebrate their achievements and provide valuable experiences to enhance career readiness.

Thirty-one students from 17 HBCUs within Coca-Cola UNITED's six-state footprint have been chosen for the program. Each participant will receive a $2,000 stipend upon completing the week-long internship, along with a lifetime Coca-Cola Brand Ambassadorship. The internship, scheduled from July 15 to 19, will offer hands-on experience across various departments including sales, production, marketing, human resources, and more.

The primary goal of the Pay It Forward program is to equip students with practical skills necessary for success in the job market. Beyond technical knowledge, the program emphasizes the importance of networking, understanding day-to-day business operations, and developing leadership capabilities.

"We are excited to welcome this exceptional group of students to our Pay It Forward program," said Mike Suco, President and CEO of Coca-Cola UNITED. "This internship goes beyond just providing learning opportunities; it serves as a platform for these future leaders to expand their networks, grow professionally, and shape their career paths."

During the internship, students will have the opportunity to hear from executives, including CEO Mike Suco, and engage in special sessions such as "Why Not Win" with Larry Thornton. These sessions are intended to inspire and motivate students as they navigate their professional journeys.

Established in 2015 by Coca-Cola UNITED teams in Birmingham and Montgomery, the Pay It Forward program has since benefitted over 100 students. It continues to evolve as a cornerstone of UNITED's commitment to supporting education and fostering career aspirations among HBCU students.

"We eagerly anticipate interacting with and learning from this remarkable group of young adults," Suco added. "Our aim is to not only empower these students but also to encourage them to pursue their goals and envision bright futures."

Through programs like Pay It Forward, Coca-Cola UNITED remains dedicated to creating meaningful opportunities and investing in the next generation of leaders from HBCUs.
