Posted By: Catalina Deossa on August 02, 2024 Toyota continues its longstanding support of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) by returning as the title sponsor for the HBCU New York Classic. This event not only highlights the athletic talent and traditions of HBCU football but also celebrates the broader contributions of these institutions to education and community development. The Classic showcases the achievements of HBCU students and alumni, emphasizing their academic success and cultural impact. Albert Williams, President and CEO of Sports Eleven05 LLC, the organization behind the Classic, expressed enthusiasm about Toyota’s ongoing partnership. He noted that Toyota’s support underscores its commitment to HBCUs and their role in nurturing young athletes who excel both on and off the field. This collaboration helps advance the legacy of HBCUs and their significant influence on higher education. Mia Phillips, General Manager of Media and Digital Engagement at Toyota, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the company’s excitement about spotlighting HBCU scholar-athletes and their renowned marching bands. Phillips praised these institutions for their vital role in society and expressed Toyota’s pride in partnering with the HBCU New York Classic once again. In addition to supporting the event, Toyota will showcase the new 2025 Camry, which features advanced performance, agile handling, and a tech-forward multimedia system. The 2024 HBCU New York Classic will include a week of activities, such as the football game, educational workshops, community outreach, and scholarship announcements, reinforcing the importance of academic achievement and community engagement.
