Tamiami Trail Estero, FL 33928 The Olympics showcase the absolute best of the best and one Southwest Florida swimmer won bronze at the Paris Olympics. I look forward to the Olympics for months leading up to the games. Maybe it’s because I’ve been an athlete pretty much all my life. Maybe it’s because I’m secretly jealous I was never as good of a gymnast as Simone Biles. Or maybe it’s just because I love seeing all the different sports and the amazing display of athleticism of competitors around the world. There are many Olympians with Florida ties competing in Paris this year. In fact, there are 14 Florida Gators competing in swimming and diving alone. And speaking of swimming, one Southwest Florida swimmer won bronze in the women’s 400m. Southwest Florida Swimmer Wins Bronze At Paris Olympics My favorite events to watch at the summer Olympics are gymnastics, swimming, diving, beach volleyball and surfing. But really, if there’s an event on tv over the course of the games, I’m watching it. I’m absolutely glued to the tv from start to finish. And being able to see a local girl win a bronze medal was so exciting. Emma Weyant is from Sarasota and this is her 2nd appearance at the Olympics following her first, with a silver medal, in 2020. Monday night, Emma won bronze in the women’s 400m individual medley with a time of 4:34.93. Katie Grimes won the silver medal in this event with a time of 4:33.40.
