DTLR Hosts “Welcome Back” Tour During Spirit Week at Several HBCUs
Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on August 20, 2024

DTLR, one of the country’s most successful lifestyle retailers with nearly 250 stores in 21 states, today announced its 3rd Annual “Welcome Back” HBCU Tour, bringing musical performances, food trucks, photo booths and giveaways at HBCU campuses in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Delaware. While the universities are preparing for orientation and students are settling back onto campus, the lifestyle retailer is focusing on engaging and entertaining students – getting them excited for the new school year with the help of key sponsors, like Nike, Jordan Brand, ETHIKA Music, McDonald’s and the United States Army. DTLR has a longstanding history supporting HBCU students and first launched its HBCU tour in 2017.

Tour Entertainment
The entertainment lineup includes platinum-selling headliner Skilla Baby. In addition to Skilla Baby, DTLR will be showcasing popular recording artists – including Big Boogie, JP, Noodah, Lehla Samia, Psiryn, Skylar Blatt, Lil Pak, RunItUp Jordan, and more.
DTLR HBCU Homecoming Tour Stops Include:
• Aug. 20 - Howard University
• Aug. 23 - Morgan State University
• Aug. 28 - Bowie State University
• Aug. 30 - Delaware State University

Tour Giveaways

Nike and Jordan Brand will be giving away collectable premium tote bags with university chants printed on the tote bags.

McDonald’s of Washington, D.C., Greater Baltimore, and Eastern Shore will be hosting an onsite student tent, where they will be giving away frozen drink vouchers to attendees. Vouchers can be redeemed at participating local McDonald’s.

The ETHIKA brand will give away exciting, branded prizes as students take a free grab from the ETHIKA claw machine. Rita's Icy will offer free flavor icy cups to the first 250 students.

DTLR will also give away custom DTLR/HBCU-branded tour shirts, and student participants will receive a $10 voucher toward items from one of the three food trucks on site (while supplies last).

Interested students should register on DTLR’s HBCU Tour landing page to participate in the event and receive tour giveaways.

“DTLR is excited to bring back our HBCU Tour to select schools during the all-important Orientation Week, and we’re looking forward to connecting our brand and sponsors with HBCU students to help get them energized for the upcoming school year and enjoy an elevated diverse experience,” said Antonio Gray, Sr. Vice President of Marketing and Community Engagement at DTLR. “We have an incredible entertainment lineup and sponsors excited to engage with HBCU students to help us continue our legacy of supporting HBCU students at campuses across the country.”
