Coca-Cola United Gifts $150-K to Support Alabama State University Student Success

Coca-Cola United presented a check totaling $150,000 to Alabama State University to benefit ASU's students. Accepting the gift on behalf of the University was ASU's 15th President, Dr. Quinton T. Ross, Jr., and Colonel (retired) Gregory Clark, who is ASU’s vice president for Institutional Advancement and the executive director of the ASU Foundation.

Coca-Cola United representatives came to campus on August 20 to present the check. Headquartered in Birmingham, the company is the third largest bottler of Coca-Cola products in the United States.

Clark explained that Coca-Cola United's largesse is part an ongoing partnership with O' Mother Dear and is a product of President Ross's leadership.



"ASU is gratified and thankful to Coca-Cola United for presenting a $150,000 check to President Ross on behalf of the University as part of its annual commitment to Alabama State, which goes to our Hornet Athletic Program, student academic scholarships and other student initiatives," Clark said from the President's Conference Room, where the presentation took place.

Clark also explained the importance of the gift is to Alabama State University.

"It is refreshing that Coca-Cola United has been in partnership with ASU for many years, and we are most definatly appreciative of its commitment to student success at ASU, which has an immediate impact on our greatest treasure - our students," Clark stated. "Their $150,000 gift will help our students matriculate, spur on athletic success in such areas as on the gridiron and track and field, and generally help them to succeed in the classroom and in life."
