The All-New 2025 Subaru Forester: A Blend of Practicality, Safety, and Capability
|
Posted By: Randi Payton on August 27, 2024 Launched this spring, the 2025 Subaru Forester continues its legacy as a reliable and practical compact SUV. The new model features a modern exterior design, upgraded technology, improved interior noise reduction, and improved ride and handling. During my weeklong test drive of the 2025 Forester Sport, I was impressed by its smoothness on various city and highway roads. Its practicality, safety, and performance blend invoked confidence in crowded traffic. While the horsepower wasn’t groundbreaking, the precise handling made up for any perceived shortcomings. The updated STARLINK touchscreen infotainment system was user-friendly, and the EyeSight technology and other driver-assist features added another security layer. Exterior/Interior: The Forester’s Sport trim boasts a sleek yet rugged design, featuring LED headlights, a bold front grille, and 19-inch alloy wheels. The spacious cabin has new seats with thigh and shoulder bolsters, ample cargo space, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and other high-quality materials. Performance/Handling: The 2.5-liter naturally aspirated boxer four-cylinder engine remains unchanged. Instead of the 182 horsepower in the 2024 model, it now gets 180 hp, with more torque at 178 lb.-ft. vs. the previous 176 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that sends power to Subaru’s all-wheel-drive system, which delivers its smooth ride and handling. The 2025 model also features a 10% stiffer chassis for improved dynamic performance and ride quality. Models/Pricing: The 2025 Forester dropped from six to five trim levels: Base ($29,695), Premium ($31,995), Sport ($34,495), Limited ($35,995), and Touring ($39,995). Each trim level includes essential features like LED headlights and remote keyless entry, with higher trims, adding a panoramic sunroof, power-adjustable driver’s seat, leather upholstery, and advanced safety features. Technology/Safety: The Forester comes standard with Subaru’s updated STARLINK touchscreen infotainment system, which includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trim levels offer a larger 11.6-inch touchscreen. Advanced safety features like EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and pre-collision braking are also standard. Fuel Economy: The 2025 Forester offers respectable fuel economy, EPA-rated at 26 city/33 highway mpg. A hybrid Forester model will arrive in spring 2025 for those seeking even better fuel efficiency and added performance. The 2025 Subaru Forester remains a strong contender in the compact SUV segment. Its combination of practicality, safety, and off-road capability continues to attract loyal customers, especially in regions with harsh weather conditions. Whether commuting daily or embarking on weekend adventures, the Forester offers a reliable and enjoyable driving experience.
