UNCF’s 80th Anniversary Celebration with UNCF Ohio Hosting the Local Walk for Education supporting HBCUs and Students

UNCF’s 80th Anniversary Celebration with UNCF Ohio Hosting the Local Walk for Education supporting HBCUs and Students
Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on October 21, 2024

As UNCF (United Negro College Fund) observes its 80th anniversary, join the annual UNCF (United Negro College Fund) Walk for Education® to help raise funds for underrepresented students across Dayton, who are trying to get to and through college.

Make a difference—walking, running, cycling—all in honor of UNCF, our students and historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

The UNCF Walk for Education® raises funds nationally and locally to support HBCUs and the students they serve through the help of individuals, corporations and other group donors.

The UNCF (Ohio) Walk for Education® is helping to financially support HBCUs in Ohio, including UNCF-member Wilberforce University.

“During our 80 years of existence and despite heavy odds, UNCF has continued to move the needle for HBCUs and students of colors, fueling their progress,” said Dr. Michael L. Lomax, president and CEO, UNCF.

“We continue to find ourselves at a crossroads where the need of our students and the demand on our member HBCUs is larger than ever before. I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again—we are at risk of washing away a generation of talented and deserving African American and minority students. Donations are urgently needed to ensure our next generation of American leaders get to college, succeed and graduate. We invite everyone to register and join our Walk for Education to help ensure better futures for us all,” said Dr. Lomax.

"The Walk for Education continues to be an important way to support underrepresented community members who need financial assistance as they pursue a debt-free college education. The Dayton community values the efforts of UNCF Ohio and our state's HBCU community for supporting academic dreams and making them come true," said Mayor Mims.

To register for the event, please go to 2024 UNCF Walk for Education - Dayton, OH: In collaboration with the Dayton Inter-Alumni Council - UNCF. Also learn the locations of all the events taking place across the country, visit UNCF.org/NationalWalk.
