2 Chainz Joins PepsiCo Taste of Tomorrow at Prairie View A&M University Homecoming

2 Chainz Joins PepsiCo Taste of Tomorrow at Prairie View A&M University Homecoming
Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on October 29, 2024

PepsiCo’s "Taste of Tomorrow" event brought an inspiring fusion of food science, STEM education, and entertainment to Prairie View A&M University during Homecoming 2024. As part of PepsiCo’s commitment to amplifying Black representation in STEM, this event captivated students and offered them a unique look into the future of food innovation.

The event highlights included Hip hop icon and HBCU alum 2 Chainz performing live on stage, energizing the crowd with a performance that highlighted his passion for supporting HBCU students and increasing diversity in STEM fields. PepsiCo’s team also provided students with an immersive food science experience, sparking creativity and curiosity as they explored the science behind flavor and experimented with crafting unique snack flavors through the Hands-On Culinary Science experience. Through “Taste of Tomorrow,” PepsiCo is making a significant impact on the future of STEM education by offering $250,000 in scholarships across nine HBCUs, including PVAMU. Information about this initiative was available throughout the event, underscoring PepsiCo's dedication to breaking down barriers in STEM.

“‘Taste of Tomorrow’ is a special movement I’m proud to be a part of—one that lays down a path for HBCU students in STEM—fields where we need more Black voices and minds," stated 2 Chainz. "PepsiCo's making sure these students get the resources, the experience, and the backing to break into industries that shape the future.”

Kent Montgomery, Senior Vice President, Industry Relations & Multicultural Development, PepsiCo North America stated, "PepsiCo’s Taste of Tomorrow initiative is about more than just innovation in food and beverage—it’s about creating opportunities for the next generation of leaders. By partnering with HBCUs, PepsiCo is ensuring that students have the tools, mentorship, and experiences they need to shape the future of industries across the board, from culinary arts to technology.”

PepsiCo’s “Taste of Tomorrow” initiative, supported by the PepsiCo Foundation, is a multi-year commitment aimed at addressing the underrepresentation of Black professionals in STEM careers. With only 9% of the STEM workforce represented by Black professionals, this initiative provides HBCU students with scholarships, mentorship, and hands-on experiences to increase diversity and innovation in these critical fields.
