A Review of the 2025 Genesis G80 Sedan: Driving in the Life of Luxury

Each day in the G80 felt like a first-class flight, a symphony of refined craftsmanship, and a testament to modern automotive luxury. Genesis Motors' rapid ascent as a luxury division of Hyundai Motors has been spectacular. Consistently outperforming many established rivals, it has solidified its position as a top contender in the luxury sedan market. In particular, the G80 3.5T has captured my attention with its striking visual appeal and luxurious feel, resembling a scaled-down Bentley. What's New for 2025: The 2025 G80 has subtle yet significant refinements, including a sharpened exterior design and revised front and rear end, which give it an even more commanding presence. Inside, the cabin receives a tech upgrade, including a larger 27.0-inch OLED display across the dash, a more intuitive infotainment system, and enhanced connectivity features. Trim Levels/MSRP: The G80 has five trim levels: the 2.5T starts at $58,350, the 2.5T Advanced at $63,150, the 2.5T Sport Prestige at $69,600, the 3.5T Sport Advanced at $70,850, and the 3.5T Sport Prestige at $78,250 MSRP. Engine/Horsepower/Performance: Under the hood of the Sport Prestige is a potent 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine churning out 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque. This powerplant delivers effortless acceleration, propelling the G80 forward from 0 to 60 in 4.7 seconds with an exhilarating surge. An all-wheel drive system with an electronic slip differential in the rear is matched with an 8-speed automatic transmission that shifts smoothly and swiftly, admirably complementing the engine's performance. Suspension & Handling: The G80 can be driven in four different modes: Sport, Sport Plus, Comfort, and My Mode. Its adaptive air suspension effortlessly absorbs road imperfections while maintaining excellent body control. In Sport mode, the suspension tightens, sharpening the steering response and delivering a more engaging driving experience. My Driving Impression: The G80's performance is comfortable and smooth in both city and highway driving, making it the perfect vehicle for long trips. The EPA rates the fuel economy for the G80 3.5-liter twin-turbo at 17 city/25 highway mpg, while the 2.5T is estimated at 22 city/30 highway mpg.
