A day in the life of a Partner Sales Manager at Yelp
Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on February 14, 2025 “Yelp’s collaborative and inclusive environment has led to several promotions during my time here, and I now proudly hold a role in leadership. My journey at Yelp has been marked by growth, both personally and professionally, and I am proud to be part of a team that truly values and recognizes each member’s unique contributions.” Say hello to Mo, a Manager on Yelp’s Partner Sales team, whose #FiveStarCareer journey at Yelp began in March 2019. When Mo joined the Partner Sales organization, he was thrilled about the potential for growth with the team. Yelp’s Partner Sales team fosters connections with digital marketing agencies that serve small-to-medium-sized businesses. These agencies collaborate with Yelp’s Partner Sales teams to both resell and purchase Yelp’s Advertising Products. Why did you want to work at Yelp? Before joining Yelp, I was looking for a workplace where I could feel comfortable and happy, and where I could genuinely make a difference. I had accepted a role at another company, but once I learned about Yelp’s Partner Program during the interview process, I knew that Yelp was the perfect fit for me. From the very beginning, I felt valued and knew what I could bring to the team. What does a typical day look like in your role? My typical day kicks off with a morning run to get my blood pumping and the ideas flowing, followed by a cup of coffee. Once I’m back, I dive into my calendar to map out the day and prep for any meetings. My day is usually filled with three types of meetings. My team meeting is where we cover organizational updates, dive into sales training, or have some fun with team bonding activities. Next, I join leadership meetings where we brainstorm how to drive growth and hit our goals. Finally, I meet with my reps to evaluate performance and strengthen our relationships with partners or co-sell if needed. Between these meetings, I make time for lunch, dream of the New York Knicks winning the NBA championship, and catch up with other managers and leaders. It’s a busy day, but the variety keeps it exciting and rewarding! What is the most rewarding part of the work you do? First, building relationships with our agency partners and the customers we work with. Over the years, I’ve developed genuine friendships with some of our partners, and it’s incredibly rewarding to surpass our goals through hard work, selling the right way by putting customers first, and having fun along the way. The second is working with my team. I love how diverse and unique we all are. Though we all come from different backgrounds, we truly have become one cohesive unit. My team is made up of folks who are hardworking, care about one another, and are always there for each other. Sometimes the busiest days are my favorite because I see them collaborating, learning from one another, and enjoying what they do. How do your leaders support your growth? My experience with Yelp’s leadership has been fantastic. They have struck a balance between believing in my abilities and understanding that I can get the job done while also challenging me by providing constructive feedback on areas for improvement. Together, we work on strategies to help me continuously grow and develop. How would you describe Yelp’s culture? Since I’ve been here, Yelp’s culture has been all about being yourself. We’re encouraged to be creative, and it’s a place where individuality is valued alongside professionalism. I am a member of Yelp’s Diversity Task Force because creating inclusive spaces that support diverse talent is something I am truly committed to. Want to work with Mo?
