NBCUniversal Executive Andrea Berry visits FAMU’s College of Agriculture and Food Sciences as guest speaker

Andrea Berry, executive vice president of operations and technology for NBCUniversal – Telemundo and Latin America, visited Florida A&M University’s College of Agriculture and Food Sciences (CAFS) as the second guest speaker in the college’s new Dean’s List: A Conversation with Friends speaker series.

The series, launched by CAFS Dean G. Dale Wesson, Ph.D., invites friends and professional colleagues from diverse backgrounds to share insights and experiences with students in a TED Talk-style seminar.

During her visit, Berry, a pioneer in broadcast operations and technology, met with CAFS faculty and staff over a casual breakfast before addressing students, faculty, and guests during a college-wide presentation. She also toured campus facilities, including the School of Journalism & Graphic Communication, where she had the opportunity to observe a live FAMU 20 newscast production and post-production meeting, as well as the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering.

Berry, a Chicago native and longtime industry leader, shared her career journey in media and technology, emphasizing the importance of resilience, adaptability, and representation in the industry.

She reflected on the significance of visiting a historically Black university and praised the energy and atmosphere on the highest of seven hills.

“It was inspiring to be here at FAMU and witness firsthand the passion these students have for their future careers,” Berry said. “The sense of community and excellence on this campus is palpable. I hope my story encourages students to explore the many opportunities available in technology, media, and agriculture.”

Dean Wesson said the Dean’s List series was designed to expose students to industry professionals whose stories reflect resilience, innovation, and leadership.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mrs. Berry to FAMU and CAFS,” Wesson said. “Her success in media and technology exemplifies what is possible for our students, and her visit helps broaden their vision for careers they may not have considered.”

Berry’s visit concluded with a tour of FAMU’s historic campus, where she learned more about the university’s legacy and its ongoing efforts to advance education in agriculture, technology, and science.

The Dean’s List: A Conversation with Friends series will continue in the Fall 2025 semester, bringing leaders from various industries to share their experiences and inspire the next generation of agricultural and scientific professionals.
